The course offers both a challenge to seasoned racing crews and a scenic cruise for those who prefer a few hours sailing in the company of others. Following the race, there will be a chowder supper provided by the Lions Club followed by trophy presentations including the presentation of the MacAskill Cup by Mr. Jim Kehoe. The trophy was donated by his company Joneljim Construction Ltd.

The MacDonnell Cup, August 1 and 2, 2008
This annual regatta was initiated by founding club member Gerry MacDonnell and is sponsored by the MacDonnell Pharmacy. A warm-up race will be held on Friday, and the main race on Saturday, over the same courses as set for the MacAskill Cup.

After the Saturday race, join us for a barbecue at the Lions Marina, followed by trophy presentations.

The St Peter's to Dundee Race, August 22 and 23, 2008

sailThis is the fifth year for a revival of sailing races held many years ago, and is now a joint effort of the Wallace MacAskill Yacht Club, St. Peter’s Lion’s Marina, and Dundee Marine. On Friday, a short course warm-up race will be held in St. Peter’s. On Saturday, the main race will begin at the usual Carter’s Cove start line, ending at Dundee. Yachts will compete for class honours and the Dundee Marine-Island Resources trophy.

This race is also a great weekend cruise for powerboats and non-competing sailors to travel in company to and from Dundee. All are invited to join the racing fleet for dinner and awards presentations on Saturday evening at the Stuffing Box Restaurant, Dundee Marina; and on Sunday, a flotilla cruise back to St. Peter’s.
